Assistant/Associate Professor & Information Services and Liaison Librarian (Liaison to Medicine) -- University of Illinois at Chicago

The University Library of the University of Illinois Chicago seeks a creative and service-oriented liaison librarian to provide clinical information support to the UI Health System and the College of Medicine's (COM) clinical educational and research initiatives. This tenure-track position is situated within the Information Services and Research (ISR) Department of the Library of the Health Sciences; the ISR Department consists of Library liaisons to each of the six health sciences colleges on the West side of campus.


The College of Medicine (COM) liaison, as a member of the COM liaison team, will advocate for the needs of the college and UI Health System, design instructional materials, support research initiatives, and offer feedback on collection development decisions. The successful candidate will be the Library's primary point of contact with clinicians, residents, and fellows in the UI Health System in Chicago, and will collaborate with liaisons to the College of Medicine programs in Chicago as well as regional programs in Peoria and Rockford.  As a member of the ISR team, the successful candidate will also support general reference and instruction services, in both virtual and face-to-face settings.


This tenure-track appointment includes the expectation that the faculty member will be actively engaged in and significantly contribute to the profession through research/scholarship and service related to professional and scholarly interests. This includes publication, presentation, and committee work at various levels. This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule.


Salary: The minimum salary for a full-time twelve-month tenure-track appointment is $71,500. Benefits for a twelve month appointment include 24 days vacation; 12 days annual sick leave with additional disability benefits; 11 paid holidays; medical insurance (contribution based on annual salary; coverage for dependents may be purchased); two dental plans available; life insurance paid for by the State; participation in one of the retirement options of the State Universities Retirement System compulsory (8% of salary is withheld and is tax exempt until withdrawal); no Social Security coverage, but Medicare payment is required. This appointment is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois and UIC United Faculty Local 6456, IFT-AFT, AAUP.
