The Greater Western Library Alliance is pleased to announce that the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) has joined the Alliance. The addition of UNLV brings GWLA's membership to 32 institutions located in 17 states, stretching from Illinois to Hawaii.
Patricia Iannuzzi, Dean of Libraries at UNLV said, "UNLV Libraries are pleased at the invitation to join GWLA and we look forward to working together with you and the member libraries."
UNLV brings many strengths to GWLA, including excellent general and special collections, an excellent digitization operation, the Oral History Research Center, and the world-renowned Center for Gaming Research. The GWLA Deans and Directors felt that UNLV would be a strong partner in the Alliance's projects including scholarly communication, resource sharing, digital libraries, and other cooperative activities. UNLV is already a significant contributor to the Western Waters Digital Library and participates in several licensing offers.
Shirley Baker, Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Dean of University Libraries at Washington University in St. Louis adds, "I and my staff are excited about UNLV joining GWLA."
