POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT 
TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES

TITLE:  Digital Stewardship Librarian – Assistant Librarian – 2 positions

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  As a member of the LTMS (Library Technology Management and Services) Research and Development Team, this tenure-track Library faculty position engages in highly innovative and sustainable digital library stewardship, to include preservation and curation research and development activities and initiatives, and digital library business continuity solutions; and works closely with library faculty and staff, the TTU community, other academic institutions, and other partners in a variety of collaborative ways.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Exemplifies work performance, attitude, and ethics that are highly collaborative, high-productivity and measureable-results in nature in a team-oriented environment.
  • Works closely with the Library Development Office and the other LTMS Teams on any grant or gift initiatives and activities.
  • Is actively engaged in appropriate assessment activities, other relevant research activities, and in associated interpretive development of digital library services and associated supporting infrastructures.
  • Plans, collaborates, and otherwise participates in relevant faculty outreach activities to develop beneficial partnerships, activities, and events.
  • Serves as a member on (or as a resource to) library committees, teams, and task forces as appointed or as circumstances warrant.
  • May serve as a mentor or a protégé within the LTMS department and/or amongst the Library faculty.
  • Supports, sustains, and interdependently fulfills the LTMS Research and Development Team Charge.
  • Pursues relevant and appropriate professional development and service activities that align with and support the mission and vision of the Library and the University.
  • Follows established and published policies and procedures of the University and the Library.
  • Reports to the Lead of the LTMS Research and Development (R&D) Team.
  • Supports and sustains the Libraries’ administrative leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Required:  Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program or international equivalent.  Preferred:  Strong customer service orientation with advanced analytical, research, and problem solving skills.  Strong technology, library, and team orientation.  Demonstrates organizational and communication skills.  Familiarity with the principles of digital preservation, curation, and stewardship.  A combination of any of the following: experience in an academic library; demonstrated project management skills; experience with information management systems and/or digital asset management systems; knowledge and ability of how to interpret a problem and turn it into a technological solution using any of the following: computer science, information science, information architecture, web application architectures (such as REST and SOAP), and software product design.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: The position is a 12-month appointment with a nationally competitive salary.  Librarians and archivists have academic status and are an integral part of the academic teaching and research mission of the University.  Comprehensive benefits include choice of retirement programs, including TIAA-CREF; 12-17 state holidays; developmental leave opportunities; moving allowance; and no state or local income tax.
