Document Delivery/ILL Librarian POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Assistant Librarian for Document Delivery/ILL RESPONSIBILITIES: The
Document Delivery Librarian is responsible for providing information
resources to support the students, faculty, and staff of Texas Tech
University, on campus or at a distance, and national/international libraries/institutions.
The position serves as a specialist for identifying, acquiring, delivering,
and tracking information and materials required for scholarly research.
The Document Delivery Librarian provides information to the Libraries’
liaison librarians to support collection development. The position
continuously assesses the performance of the unit for process improvements
and writes reports to support a variety of assessment activities. Other
responsibilities encompass all activities of interlibrary loan services
including staffing, organization, budget, statistics, policies, user
services, copyright, special projects, remote storage retrieval for
document delivery, evaluating and integrating new technology, monitoring
resource-sharing agreements and taking a leadership role in related
professional organizations. Service on internal committees or
teams as well as university service is a responsibility. Additionally,
the position serves the Mission, Vision, and Values in alignment with
the Strategic Plan of the TTU Libraries and follows established University
policies and procedures. The TTU Libraries are a member of GWLA,
TexShare, RAPID, and several other resource-sharing organizations of
which the Document Delivery Librarian is the Libraries’ representative.
They are responsible for insuring that the Libraries are meeting and
exceeding the standards set by these organizations. The incumbent
is also expected to engage in scholarly pursuit and other professional
activities in accordance with Texas Tech Libraries’ standards for
promotion and tenure. The position supervises a unit that includes
six paraprofessionals and 20-25 student assistants. The position
reports to the Head, Access Services, a department within Outreach and
Information Services. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited Master’s degree. Strong public service orientation; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Excellent writing skills; Knowledge of ILLiad and Ariel document delivery software; Proficiency in database and online catalog searching; Ability to work independently and as a team member and leader; Knowledge of scholarly publication trends, copyright compliance, and licensing implications. SALARY AND BENEFITS: The position is a 12-month appointment with a nationally competitive salary.
