Reporting to the Director of Library Operations, this position will lead the integration of regular assessment practices into the culture of the organization, ensuring shared actions toward strategic goals related to library operations, user needs, and employee engagement. The Assessment and Engagement Librarian actively plans, develops, and implements library-wide assessment programs and initiatives that enable continuous review, evaluation, and improvement of programs and services. Job Title: Assessment and Engagement Librarian

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an ALA accredited program or related graduate degree program.

  • Prior experience with library assessment.

  • Experience designing surveys and analyzing data.

  • Experience developing reports and other documentation for annual reports.

  • Experience developing instructional materials and delivering training or workshop presentations.

  • Ability to successfully initiate, track, and manage projects.

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team setting.

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for a diverse patron population.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Ability to read, analyze, and understand data in a variety of formats.

· Project management and/or similar certification.

· Experience in designing and/or conducting usability testing and facilitating focus groups.

· Experience with assessment tools and data visualization software such as Tableau and/or Microsoft Power BI.

· Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills, including ability to work effectively in a team.

· Advanced problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

· Ability to utilize analytics/visualization tools in new, creative, and effective ways.

· Ability to use computer software to prepare reports, analyze data, and develop presentations.

· Perform intermediate math to analyze and interpret reports and research findings.

· Coordinate and oversee projects.

· Work under pressure with a high degree of accuracy.

Job Duties :

  • Coordinate library-wide assessment programs and activities.

  • Collect data and analyze trends by soliciting feedback from library users and non-users to facilitate evidence-based decision making.

  • Coordinate user experience and staff engagement activities.

  • Assess employee engagement by reviewing and assessing all processes related to recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention practices.

  • Lead implementation of diversity, equity, programs, and initiatives.

  • Ongoing professional development and contribution to field of research and profession including attendance and participation in conferences and workshops, membership and service in appropriate professional organizations and other professional activities and/or

  • Productive service to the department and university including committee and team meetings and/or creative activity appropriate to one’s field/profession, such as delivering papers at conferences, research, study and/or publication.

  • Coordinate and/or perform special projects, participate in department & other staff meetings, search committees, and perform other duties as assigned.
