Are you an excellent writer and visual storyteller? Do you enjoy and understand how to create the right content to connect with different audiences? We’re seeking a Communications Specialist to join the Marketing Communications & Events team in Library Administration to help us enrich the lives of students, faculty, staff, and the community.
You’ll execute marketing initiatives, ensure seamless communications with colleagues and campus partners, and execute projects from concept inception to completion. You’ll work with our MarComm team and stakeholders to support the library’s publicity efforts, write good stories, manage our social media presence, create inclusive and accessible content that represents diverse audiences and supports diversity, equity and inclusion-related initiatives, produce our external and internal e-newsletters, and provide hands-on support at our events. In this role, which reports to the Director, Marketing Communications & Events, you’re a contributing team player who likes sharing information, is willing to learn, and enjoys collaborating with others.
This position is located in Tucson, AZ.

Duties & Responsibilities
Manages and implements publicity strategies to create and execute compelling story ideas, news stories, and digital marketing content that highlight the resources, services, events and workshops, exhibits, and people at the University Libraries, that aligns with our brand identity.
Manages the University Libraries social media presence by planning, creating, scheduling, and monitoring social media posts and interacting with users to respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments. Monitors social media channels for trends, reviews analytics, identifies key metrics, and stays updated with guidelines and changes in social platforms to ensure effectiveness.
Creates, edits, and updates website content on the University Libraries websites and campus web pages, and participates in our organizational website strategy and content work.
Manages, produces, and distributes the University Libraries external monthly e-newsletter and the internal e-newsletter, and oversees the subscription/distribution lists.
Assists in planning, creating, editing, publicizing, and distributing digital and print content—including events, workshops, ads, marketing materials, email, web, video—that aligns with our marketing goals.
Participates in planning, coordinating, and providing hands-on support for University Libraries events, programs, and activities during regular work hours and occasional evenings or weekends.
Participates in professional development activities for communications, marketing, and social media.
Provides some student employee supervision, including delegating publicity-related tasks and projects.

Demonstrated skills in creating social media content, managing a social media calendar, and developing a social media strategy.

Strong organizational and project planning skills, including establishing priorities and managing multiple deadlines.

Familiarity with event marketing, planning, and providing hands-on support at events.

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field, or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required
3 years of relevant work experience
Experience editing photos, video, and audio for different social media and web platforms.
Experience in marketing, communications, social media management, writing, or journalism.
Experience with digital marketing and publishing tools such as Trellis, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, TweetDeck, emma, or ConstantContact.
Experience with software such as Adobe Creative Suite’s Illustrator and Photoshop.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
