The Data Cooperative provides data science and visualization services, research data repository services, geospatial services, and digital scholarship services for the University of Arizona. The incumbent will develop a robust program supporting computational applications in the humanities and social sciences through a variety of formats, providing up-to-date and on-demand training for relevant tools and resources.
The Digital Scholarship Specialist / Librarian will: stay abreast of trends and tools available in the evolving digital scholarship ecosystem; provide technical support and training in the use of tools and workflows to support scholarship in the humanities and social sciences; work with library colleagues and researchers to identify appropriate tools, platforms, and resources for digital projects; collaborate with other members of the Data Cooperative and Research Engagement to develop outreach strategies and partnerships for supporting digital research projects; identify opportunities for impactful engagement in digital scholarship by the University Libraries; advance digital research methods in interdisciplinary contexts; contribute to the scholarly record through research, creative works, and/or scholarship.
This is a continuing-eligible or continuing track, academic professional position. Incumbents are members of the general faculty and are entitled to all accompanying rights and privileges granted by the Arizona Board of Regents and the University of Arizona. Duties & Responsibilities
Support UArizona researchers and scholars in navigating the digital scholarship landscape
Develop and lead training opportunities in digital scholarship tools and resources such as text data mining, natural language processing, and/or content analyses
Provide consultations on computational and digital approaches to scholarship in humanities and social sciences
Create effective outreach strategies for digital scholarship services
Contribute to web resources to aid in discovery of digital scholarship resources
Participate in the library’s outreach efforts to the Departments of English and Linguistics
Serve as liaison between the Departments of Linguistics and English and library personnel for reference requests
Selectively plan and provide course-integrated library instruction sessions in the Departments of English and Linguistics
Partner with campus units such as the Computational Social Sciences certificate program to create resilient network of digital scholarship support
Create and update instructional materials, learning modules, and tutorials using a variety of formats including print, digital, and web-based technologies

Coursework or substantive experience with digital content and digital scholarship issues
Demonstrated experience with evolving landscape of digital scholarship technologies and resources, such as those applied in digital humanities and text data mining
Experience in one or more computer languages used in digital scholarship, including Python
Professional experience working in an academic research library
Carpentries Instructor Certification
Demonstrated expertise in training audiences with diversity of experiences and backgrounds
Experience applying computational approaches including, but not limited to natural language processing, text data mining, content analysis, or network analysis
Demonstrated experience in pursuing independent and collaborative scholarship, such as peer-reviewed research, creative works, or open software projects
Rate of Pay: $60,000 - $75,000
