The Library Data Analyst is integral to analyzing the performance of the UNLV Libraries and its progress on strategic goals. This position collects, analyzes, and reports both quantitative and qualitative data, manages databases and data dashboards, performs assessments, and designs and administers surveys (both within the libraries and across campus). Annual tasks include gathering data and preparing reports for external agencies, such as sending annual data to IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) managed by the U.S. Department of Education, and annual surveys administered by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). The primary purpose of this position is to make available reliable, accurate, and complete data to the library’s administrators or others to facilitate informed decision making and ultimately improve research and student learning outcomes.
Data collection and analysis is to be completed in a coordinated and meaningful way with emphasis on design, accuracy, evaluation and analysis, and delivery of data through visual and/or narrative means (including data dashboards, slide presentations, and potentially written reports). The Library Data Analyst will perform all tasks accurately and promptly, be responsive to requests, and maintain professional and positive contact with colleagues in the Libraries and across UNLV. Success will enable documentation of the impact the library has on the university and local/global community, and provide broader perspective and insight into library services, goals, and performance. This position requires much independent work, and is supported in professional development to maintain and advance skills in data analysis and visualization.
