Library Operations & Circulation Supervisor -- J. Willard Marriott Library
Post date: March 10, 2023
We are seeking a candidate who is eager to help lead a department with a highly successful service record at the University of Utah. As one of the Operations & Circulation, Supervisors, you will help to make the library a safe, secure environment while delivering exceptional customer service. The supervisor needs to have an interest in developing skills in supervision/leadership, operations management, public administration, customer relations, and interpersonal communication. We will provide you with training on our systems, policies, and procedures if you bring a commitment to making library services easily accessible, a willingness to communicate clearly and respectfully with diverse people, and a willingness to present a positive image of the library and campus in each interaction. If you are interested in a career in libraries, cultural heritage institutions, or public administration, this job will expose you to multiple facets of such organizations.
The 6 years related work experience requirement can be met through a combination of educational equivalency (1 year of college-level education is equivalent to 2 years of experience); full or part time work in a library, cultural heritage institution, or similar public service organization; supervisory or student leadership positions; unpaid internships or volunteer assignments.
This position is required to work on campus full-time. Telecommuting will only be authorized for occasional/exceptional circumstances.
We seek qualified applicants who also bring perspectives and experiences that will enrich and strengthen our organization. We especially invite applications from candidates who may not have followed a traditional educational or professional path. All candidates should be prepared to discuss how they see themselves contributing to the University’s equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts. The library serves an increasingly diverse constituency of patrons, and our employees, services, collections, and policies should honor and reflect this diversity. We are therefore interested in identifying and interviewing candidates who have experience with underserved or marginalized communities and communities of color and who are committed to advancing our mission to provide equitable access to information resources.
