Student Success Librarian -- University of Houston Libraries
Post date: January 30, 2023
The University of Houston Libraries seeks a Student Success Librarian to significantly contribute to the development, implementation, and assessment of co-curricular information literacy efforts. Reporting to the Assistant Head of Teaching and Learning, the librarian will advance the department’s efforts towards inclusive, learner-centered pedagogy through targeted co-curricular programming and curricular instruction. The Teaching and Learning Department is focused on teaching transferable information literacy concepts and abilities that are essential to critical inquiry.
As a member of the Teaching and Learning Department, the Student Success Librarian will develop and sustain collaborative partnerships with faculty, staff, and students in co-curricular campus units, programs, and organizations to meaningfully integrate information literacy throughout the university’s learning ecosystem. This includes the creation of lesson plans, learning activities, assignments, online learning materials, and other opportunities that integrate information literacy into co-curricular programs and experiential learning courses. The librarian also will support the department’s curricular integration efforts through teaching (both face-to-face and online) undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of subject areas, and facilitate one-on-one research consultations for graduate and undergraduate students and faculty, online and in person (note that the UH Libraries does not have a reference desk). The librarian will create and lead professional development for librarians and instructors on information literacy and co-curricular engagement.
