The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) invites applications for our next Director of the Savitt Medical Library! At UNR Med, we are dedicated to advancing healthcare through education, research, and community service. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of all Nevadans and their communities through excellence in medical education, clinical care, and research. As part of our commitment to innovation and excellence, we are seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as the Savitt Medical Library Director. This position reports to the Senior Associate Dean, Institutional and Faculty Affairs at UNR Med and the Dean of UNR Libraries. The two units work in close collaboration to build a stronger campus-wide library system.

The Director will oversee all aspects of library operations, including collection development, information services, technology integration, strategic planning, budget administration, personnel management, policy formulation, facilities planning, and user experience enhancement. The Director will collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and strategic partners to promote evidence-based practice, information literacy, scholarly communication, and research support services. Additionally, the Director will cultivate partnerships with external stakeholders to enhance resources and services offered by the library. The Director oversees five library faculty members and four staff members. 

The Savitt Medical Library supports the students, residents, fellows, faculty and staff in the following programs:  Medical Education, Graduate Medical Education, Nursing, Physician Assistant, Sanford Center for Aging, and Speech Pathology & Audiology.   

There are four Savitt Medical Library locations, with the main Savitt Medical Library on the UNR campus within the UNR Med building complex.  We operate three additional satellite libraries: 

• Savitt at Moana – This location is situated within the University Health Building on Moana Lane. This location serves Patient-Centered Family Medicine, Graduate Medical Education, the Student Outreach Clinic, the Office for Community Faculty and the SOAR Program for First Episode Psychosis.

• Savitt at Renown – Student Hospital Library.  This satellite library is located in the Renown Regional Medical Center on a secure floor, which also houses student call rooms and a student lounge.

• Savitt at Renown—Main Hospital Library. Our newest satellite library location sits in the nexus of the system’s flagship hospital. This branch is available 24/7 via badge-access to all Renown employees and all UNR students, residents, fellows, faculty and staff with affiliate credentials at Renown.

Salary Range: Salary is competitive and commensurate with related experience.
