Post date: Jul 16, 2020

GWLA is pleased to announce that Nora Dethloff has been appointed Program Officer for Scholarly Communication with GWLA (Greater Western Library Alliance). She will begin her duties in early September.

Nora Dethloff has over 13 years' experience in library resource sharing. For the past 3 years she has worked as the Head of Research Materials Procurement at the University of Houston’s M.D. Anderson Library, where she oversaw Acquisitions and Interlibrary Loan. She has been active and held leadership roles in ALA, RUSA STARS, and the Texas Library Association. An OpenCon alum, Nora is an advocate for open scholarship, and was instrumental in launching UH Libraries' successful OER program. Nora is a member of the Project ReShare Steering Committee, Product Management Team, and Communications Team. She has presented at state, regional, and national conferences, including Northwest ILL, the ILLiad Conference, and ALA Annual. Her work has been published in the Journal of Access Services, New Library World, and the Journal of Interlibrary Loan, Document Delivery & Electronic Reserve.

Nora earned her MLIS from Kent State University, and also holds an MFA in English and Creative Writing from the University of Notre Dame. She is a ridiculous copyright nerd, and reads books about fair use for fun, much to the amusement of her family. In her spare time she enjoys YA fantasy fiction, talking about Outlander, and hanging out with her two daughters, husband, and rat terrier.
